One of my neighbors left behind this beat up Chinesium dirt bike when he moved. Another neighbor grabbed it for me, knowing my obsession for stupid two-wheelers.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Its a total pile. I’m going to try to get it going, as long as I don’t have to spend much money on it. Plans are to use it as a pit bike and MAYBE let my kids tool around my buddy’s big back yard in first gear ... MAYBE.

Worst case scenario, I push it on the curb for the scrappers, which is where it w as going to go anyways.

Saw the rain gutter spout and thought it was part of some super janky exhaust setup

It's good to have neighbors who understand you.

I went through a similar situation earlier this year. Cleaned out the carb, hot wired the ignition (no key) and it came back to life. I ended up having to rebuild the calipers and replace the master cylinders. I'm in it about 40$

Maybe the new neighbors will be scooter enthusiasts just like you! (Just trying to look on the bright side).

In other news, my scooter finally got new tires and I rode it home yesterday. I’ll probably make a post tonight once I snap a few more pics.

I’ll bet a dollar to a donut that a good carb clean and fresh gas she’ll fire up. If not, its likely a pz19 carb that you can buy new for $20ish, and a gy6 ignition setup that you can get for around $15. So pretty much as long as you have compression, you can get it running for $35 worst case.

The ride home was an adventure. First time on a scooter other than my 50cc beach rental (besides the 5 minute test ride). About 9 miles across a few towns and the city I live in.

Sounds about right. Brakes are the X-factor here, as the front brake lever is MIA.

i got one from a friend that was like new but didn’t run, had no compression, these Honda clones run good but the weakness is in the lack of hardness in some of the critical engine moving parts, first thing i checked was the valves, sure enough one of them was bent from whiskey throttle i assume. took that valve out and put it in the drill press and tapped it around until it ran true. put it all back together and reset the lash and it fired right up and the kids and grandkids been riding it ever since, still starts on first kick. sometimes all you need to do is get the valve clearance reset to make it run, most folks who buy these don’t have a clue and all they had to do was check these things or have a friend do it
